The traditional wines of his native Italy, redolent of myth and magic, drove him to dig deeper into the secrets of the vintner’s art.

To learn the actual process of wine-making, Lucio studied Agricultural Science and Wine Science at the prestigious University of Bologna, followed by a Ph.D. in Wine Biotechnology at the University of California, during which he collaborated with Codorniu Winery and RH Phillips winery, one of the most excellent producers of sparkling wine and white wine in California for a project on wines.

Then, he was ready to follow his destiny in the wondrous world of wines. His craft matured as he became a professional wine-maker at the Miranda Winery and Rockford Winery in picturesque Barossa Valley of South Australia; Castello Banfi Winery and Montalcino, in Italy.

Along the way, he mastered the complexities of R&D, as well as the alchemy of white and red vinification of still wines. Today, Lucio provides his expertise as consultant to renowned winemakers like the Talamonti Winery at Abbruzzo. He is also presently Wine Consultant at the University of Milan, collaborating with the Viticulture and Oenology departments in association with viticulturist Luca Toninato.
