  Wine Temperature

To store
During storage, wines must be stored on their sides in dark, humid and cool environments especially if the wine needs to mature effectively, and a constant temperature is most important for storage, ideally between 10 and 15 degrees C. Slow seasonal fluctuations do not really matter however extreme and sudden changes in temperature can cause harm.

To serve
A general rule of thumb: Red wine, 65 degrees (F), also called cellar temperature.
White & rose wine, 55 degrees (F).
Champagne & other bubbly, 45 degrees (F).

To get to those temperatures red wines can normally just be kept in the cellar. White and rose wines can be put in the fridge for a few hours, and the sparklings longer. However it is far better to use an ice bucket. Fill the bucket up with ice about 4/5ths, and cover the ice with water. If the "room" temperature of the red wine is over 65 degrees, immerse the wine for five minutes; whites and rose's for ten minutes; and bubblies for fifteen to twenty minutes.

The temperature zones are very important as wine types seem to display more flavor as well as fruitier, fresher aromas when served and drunk at the right temperature.
