For
as long as he can remember, Lucio Matricardi
has had a passionate affair with wine. The traditional
wines of his homeland, redolent with myth and
magic, drove him to dig deeper into the jealously-guarded
secrets of the Italian vintner's art.
To learn the actual
process of wine-making, Lucio studied Agricultural
Science and Wine Science at the prestigious University
of Bologna, followed by a Ph. D. in Wine Biotechnology
at the University of California.
Then, he was ready
to play out his destiny in the wondrous world of wines.
He built his career
as professional wine-maker at the Miranda Winery,
South Australia; Castello Banfi Winery, Montalcino;
the Mezzacorona Winery, Trento; Barone Bonaffini Winery
and Terre Picene Winery, Marche, Italy.
Along the way,
he mastered the complexities of R&D, as well as
the sheer alchemy of white and red vinification of
still wines.
Now, he was ready
to offer his expertise as consultant to renowned winemakers
like the Talamonti Winery at Abbruzzo. He is also
presently Wine Consultant at the University of Milan.
To crown it all, he's Wine Consultant to the revered
V.I.N.E.A. Association.
It is with great
pleasure that Chateau de Banyan introduces Lucio to
India as the 'guiding spirit' of Big Banyan wines.
